This is an Outstanding School - Ofsted 2007 and 2013

 Welcome to Gilbrook School

Our Mission Statement

" At Gilbrook School we aim to provide a happy, stable, caring environment where everyone feels safe and is able to reach their full potential  We promote positive attitudes towards ourselves and others and encourage appropriate behaviours to function successfully in a school environment and as good citizens."

A message from the Headteacher - Mr R Richardson

Welcome to the Gilbrook School Website.  As a maintained special school, Gilbrook caters for primary aged boys and girls with a range of needs which impact upon their behaviour.  It is our priority to provide a caring, nurturing and supportive environment for each pupil.  We specialise in providing a structured learning environment which meets the needs of pupils with ADHD, autism, social and communication difficulties, learning difficulties, speech and language difficulties and emotional problems. We also provide support for families including a weekly parents group.

We actively encourage pupils to develop their self control and social skills and, with adult support, learn to manage any problem behaviours.  We have so much to be proud about at Gilbrook, from our two most recent OFSTED inspections (2007 and 2013) which judged the school to be outstanding in every category to the responses from the most recent parent/carers questionnaire (2013). Parents described the school as 'the best thing that's happened to them' and another who said 'why was it not possible for my child to come here sooner'.

I am very proud to be leading a highly motivated and committed staff whose consistently high expectations have led the school to where it is now.  We continue to challenge ourselves and our pupils resulting in a highly qualified staff and continued outstanding outcomes for all of our pupils.

Gilbrook has always been proud of its 'open door' policy and we receive many visitors throughout the year, from parents/carers and pupils to staff from many schools both within this Local Authority and from across the country.

I hope you find this website informative, however, I would recommend you find some time for a visit to the school.
